Mapping the Field of Visual Practice 12/4/2018

SINGLE SESSION, 9-11 AM PT, December 4, 2018     9:00 am - 11:00 am PACIFIC TIME

The purpose of this Exchange is to continue to explore and develop a map of the field of visual practice. Mathias Weitbrecht shared it at the European Forum of Visual Practitioners meetup in Hamburg. Continuing thinking has added new dimensions that we hope to explore. The Grove and Visual Facilitators have been leaders in developing the field of visual practice; now their two founders are inviting others to help them make sense of this exploding field.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC/FEE; MEMBERS/NO FEE WITH COUPON

Intention

There are many branches of visual practice developing rapidly, from graphic facilitation, graphic recording, sketchnoting, generative graphics, Agile planning, and others. We hope to refine the meaningful dimensions upon which a map of the different practice areas can be visualized and explore what an accompanying white paper might contain.

Key Questions for Exploration

  1. What distinctions emerged from the Hamburg Meetup?
  2. Do the continents of users still make sense?
  3. Can we further refine the scale of different practice area islands?
  4. Should we add identifiable thought leaders?
